The Purloined Photograph

Cette photo, je l'ai volé ! - er, with permission - from Betty C.
at La France Profonde.

Pourquoi ? C'est évident, non ? It's beautiful, tenebrous. The dominance of shadow over the benighted stone of age, the haunting silhouette of the photographer peering through the obscurity, making its presence felt in the darkness. I wish I had taken it.

I loved the photo when I saw it on Betty's page. I LOVE it against the black background. It brings out the lighting of the building even more. Beautiful! Good swipe, Swiper (pardon my bazaar and pointless Dora the Explorer reference. Swiper is a fox that takes things from Dora. He is my favorite character on Dora. T.M.I.? Perhaps. ;-)

I think so, plus the color of the stone fits my scheme here. And most importantly, it fulfills the daily NaBloPoMo requirement because my brain never woke up with my body this morning. And don't sweat the TMI. I promise I'll never use it against you. :)

SWIPER, NO SWIPING!

I have a Ford Explorer that my grandkids has dubbed "Dora"....I agree with le belette rouge, Swiper is one of the better characters, although I still like Boots the monkey, the best. He's hyper and annoying, just like me.

To get to the post...that is an amazing photo. Très magnifique!

lovely caption for this photo! and i love the word tenebrous. i haven't heard that word in so long and it is definitely a word that i could use often, given many of my tenebrous thoughts.

Mary Ellen, it's okay to steal now! Haven't you been paying attention these last seven years?

b, it is a neat word, isn't it? And it even sounds like it should.

Here's a link to Betty C's flickr stuff. There's some truly excellent shots!

Randal, I am touched beyond belief! And the photo does look nice against black -- it's interesting to see it against a different background.

I should put more photos on Flickr but I just spend too much time blogging...

As for the other comments, no, Randal was not swiping anything, despite the great title to this post -- which makes me almost wish he had swiped it!

You want to build up a nice reservoir of photos for those days when you cannot think of a thing to say - which was the impetus behind my approved theft!

Wow. So gorgeous. I can smell France when I look at it.

I can feel France, too.
