Catharsis

All art is all the same, in this way: once you've been exposed, you've got an opinion on it. True neutrality exists only in D&D. Thus, an editor's note: the photos below are either a masterful use of a point-&-click best suited for natural light closeups, the harsh, hard clarity of the everyday filtered out so the savage beast is better soothed through an audio-visual magic, or, the work of someone who has no clue what the fuck he's doing.

Moot, since things said, unsaid, things done, undone, the constant maelstrom of each playing off the other both here & here, you can't see but you know where I'm pointing, came rushing back the moment the last chord slipped away into a greasy haze of cheer, beer, sweat & damnable thoughts that I'm childishly grateful I can't kill. But for two hours, consternation, I saw you drown, & I was right into the bliss.

Merci, gents.

Here I thought you'd succumbed to the flesh-eating bacteria or some such.

Instead you were out getting wasted at a Rock and/or Roll Show?

I'm taking back all my faux sympathy for the Randal.

if, wasted? Nary a drop of the devil's brew crossed my lips. I was high on the music, man.

laura, wish I had one of those two-thousand shekel cameras, but I do think they at least captured the celebration-of-melancholia vibe.

Who needs the white man's firewater when one can have absinthe instead? (I kid).

Still, thanks for hooking me up with the swanky tuneage so I could eventually enjoy it live too.

Dammit, that crap is expensive. I should probably start drinking more white man's firewater.

Which you repaid in kind via your ticket power as goddess of the airwaves. The circle of rock continues unabated.

I think you captured the essence appropriately and well. Not just with a visual record of the performers doing their thing, but also the verve and intensity of the music and moment. Bravo.

And they provided all the colors of the sunset. Well played, you.

The drowning of consternation, that's what we all need.

I'm glad you had such a good time. The Ramones did it well for me.

jim, long? I'd settle for the return of the little extra I used to have.

SWA, regardless of the genre of tuneage one digs, a grade A concert always does the trick.

lisa, are you saying I wasted the 2-3 minutes spent putting the next one together?

tom, or just the drowning of a few choice individuals.

susan, now that would be an oddball, Katatonia's moody Swede take on I Wanna Be Sedated.

I see this post title in my sidebar, and I think of cat hairs.

I type the word 'sidebar', and I think: convenient source of adult refreshments.

What's wrong with me, Doktor?

I've got some cathair for you, thunder. Cats, too, if you want them. They come with a free sidebar and have been well trained to mix drinks.

if, I'm sorry, you have Randal's Syndrome. Take two bottles of single malt and call me in the morning, assuming your liver didn't stop working.

Now I've got Cat Scratch Fever in my head. Snootch to the Nuge.

Now I'm imagining "I Wanna Be Sedated" played at a dirge-like pace with some minor-key chord changes.

Kinda like what the Afghan Whigs did with this one.
