A room with a not half-bad view

Too drained from real world writing to come up with anything -- I know that sounds epic and romantic and all that poetical, soul-baring jazz, but it merely means I have a poorly-functioning skull -- I figured why not up the aura of blah with some masochism:

The view from mon amie's new flat on the Mediterranean coast.

I live next to a bowling alley.

Jaloux? Jamais.

How is it that some in life get to live waking up to views like that and some us live well, in much less pretty places? I think when I lived in an apartment that shared it's parking lot with a funeral home was my least favorite location. Now my home is located between a hospital and a fire station. I think I need a vacation... ;)

Yeah, that's really lovely for your friend. And really lovely of you for posting that really lovely view. Really, really lovely.

I'm going to go back to looking out my lovely back door window - with the lovely hole in the screen - at my neighbor's lovely shed that is sinking into the lovely mud.

angie, living next a graveyard could be cool. A funeral home? Not so much.

Think we can get some federal loot for vacations? It'll be stimulating someone's local economy.

suzi, yeah, if I didn't like her, I'd hate her. But my primary goal was to spread the misery, and so I feel I've accomplished something today.

The Sinking Tower of Pisa?

Your friend is very fortunate. I live in a pretty place but we have a state road next to us, which was rarely traveled cuz we lived out in the country but not anymore, the city is coming to us (like it or not) and now the roar from the road is quite annoying.

Isn't everything in Cleveland next to a bowling alley?

I'd say just waking up somewhere is a slight advantage over the alternative. But then I don't live in Cleveland either.

Don't you wonder too, when seeing the pictures of the quaint Mediteranian seaside villages, where they keep their bowling alleys and highrises?

liberality, ugh, that's often the worst part, the incessant noise.

übermilf, you shouldn't buy into stereotypes. At least half of everything is next to an abandoned building.

mrmacrum, after living here my entire life, I'm not sure I could hack beautiful scenery. I'd probably get struck by a meteor.

susan, like Pee-Wee's bicycle, they're in the basement. Gotta do something with those Romanesque crypts.

I thought I'd spread a little sunshine and look up all the hot spots in Cleveland and cheer you up! But, the only thing that came up was the Hard Rock Cafe. Sheesh....and that can't possibly make up for being stuck with the Cleveland Browns. Sorry, Randal, I tried. :-(

How beautiful. I wish I had that view!

You may live next to a bowling alley, but at least you live in a Free Country full of Rugged Individuals and capitalists. Your friend with the view is surrounded by a bunch of them Yerpeen Socialists.

I always try to see the glass as half full; hope I cheered you up a little.

I actually always liked Cleveland. There was this biker bar outside of town that.........nevermind. We had a good time.

Graves, you swine!

Come to California: we have views like that coming outta our asses. In fact, the proctologists here all sell peeks.

Tengrain

OK, the Mediterranean view is grand. But you can probably slip next door any time of the day or night for an overpriced, slightly burned frozen pizza and a watery, basically flavorless, outrageously overpriced Brand-X cola. Can mon amie do that?

Randal Graves said...

Nunly, yeah, nothing says cheery like an eight dollar burger. I think that's what they are, I've yet to patronize the place.

mauigirl, so do I!

tom, God bless you, my friend, for you have indeed cheered me up! Enjoy your superior-than-ours health care, frogs!

mrmacrum, compared to certain other flat and featureless places, Oklahoma or Nebraska, for example, it's not bad.

tengrain, I cannot deny the natural beauty of your state, but dude, it's France. Left coast loses. ;-)

SWA, I think that might cheer me up the most. If there's one thing Murka will always be number one in, discounting imperialist designs for a moment, it's this!

You live next to a bowling alley? That sounds like a script to a bad 70s teenager movie...

No, it all really looks like what I just posted for Wordless Wednesday, if that's any consolation.

This photo somehow makes me think of "Function of Time"...remember?
