This is what happens when you fail your saving throw.

Yeah, I'm probably about the 7,348,225th geek with a blog to point this out, but Dungeons and Dragons co-creator E. Gary Gygax left this mortal coil today. Oh, how many hours we passed playing this damn thing during the pre-internets Dark Ages of the early 1980s.

See kids, when you appear on a Matt Groening television program, you end up a corpse, without fail. Beware.

I wonder how may hit points he took with him.

I never did play D&D but everyone around me did. It deffinately made its mark and arguably paved a way for things like world of warcraft and other MMORGP's even though it wasn't a computer game. It also paved the way I think for card based games like Magic The Gathering.

I hit that today to.

That guy had a HUGE effect on popular culture including computer games and movies.

See ya Gary! Enjoy the big game in the sky with the ultimate Dungeon Master.

Some of my geekier friends in college played -- and I watched one night. The Dungeon master was in another apartment and they had him on the phone the whole time.

Graph paper everywhere, strange dice, arcane rules.

I watched until the sun came up, and then I went to my place and crashed, with a happy smile on my face: I knew I was not the geekiest kid in school for sure.

Regards,

Tengrain

dr. monkey, I just hope he was carrying one of the good treasure types.

poli, exactly, D&D/Chainmail was the spawn for all that stuff.

dean, hello flying spaghetti monster, it's (rolls dice) a pleasure to meet you!

tengrain, the DM was on the phone? I've heard of play-by-mail crap, but that's just bizarre. And no, we didn't get much geekier than that. I played sports too, which was an odd combination. I'm just glad I've grown up to be very normal!

I wanted to get that post out yesterday but no time.

I too spent many an hour with D&D

I think I dated all 7,348,225 geeks, too, save for you and Gygax himself. Good times.

RIP.

Salut,
Marjorie

I swear, if ever asked to do a cameo on a Matt Groening television program, I'll turn it down.

Can you tell that I'm in the minority in that I didn't know who E. Gary Gygax was?

I'm geekier than the geeks!
