No way, José

I know, I know, I too am sad that Frank Drebin's dead.

Didn't see that coming.

At least he didn't have his nuts bit off by a Laplander.

Does such a comically grisly fate await Julian the Aussie Apostate, one can only speculate, that rhymes & you know that rhymes, Marge; depends on which nation eventually imprisons the little scamp, I'd wager. The Us of A? As far as I know, we zap sacks, we don't chew on 'em.

Re: the war machine being irreparably damaged (hint: it's not): 'tis irrelevant. Just because you can't stop colonization doesn't mean you still shouldn't tell everyone about the Cancer Man's alien-human hybrid self-preservation gig.

Until Wikileaks becomes the NYT of hipsters and anarchists, and Uncle gets himself another propaganda organ.

Death just got Irwin Kershner, so I guess The Empire really did strike back. Next thing you know, Death will tackle Messi from behind...

I miss Leslie Nielsen already. Will have to download his movies and re-watch them. I could use a few laughs in the middle of all the mess we're in.

jack, don't forget that everything that's fashionable will eventually return to its natural unfashionable state, even PBR.

liberality, which is why the TSA is trying this new way of übersexy!

cormac, no. *I* am your blogger.

mauigirl, the goofiest thing is that virtually every person under the age of 30 has no clue that he was once a "serious" actor.

Jose "The Special One" Mourinho is no so special after all. I'd still love to see him take over when Sir Alex of the Ferguson steps down!

R.I.P. Leslie Nielsen. A comic genius who will be sadly missed.

And, who got their nut bitten off by a Lapdancer???

Where've you been, dude?

R.I.P. Leslie Nielsen. No, I didn't know he was Canadian.

Cool link about the WikiLeaks vicious cycle. The more leaks there are, the tighter the security and secrecy, which leads to more leaks, which leads to more repression and secrecy. Since the "media" doesn't give us anything except corporate propaganda and celebutante gossip, WikiLeaks IS the real news media.

sunshine, Dracula wasn't Canadian, whatcha gotta say about that!

tom, I don't think anyone with a half-functioning brain (mine's about a quarter, so I'm borderline) thinks this will change anything long-term, but look, anything to shine a light on the cockroaches that are states, especially imperialist ones, I'm in favor of.

Fuck man, politics was, is, and always will be a dick-waving contest between puppetmasters. What non-evil bastard would support that?

And before anyone trots out a straw man, I've got a concealed carry permit for an acetylene torch.

I still think the only people who should serve in public office are those who'd have to be dragged kicking and screaming from their hideaways. Anybody who wants the job should be disqualified as mentally unfit. Same goes for bankers and corporate execs.

I just watched Leslie in an episode of Creepshow where he played a seriously jealous husband.

Best Leslie Nielsen movie ever is Forbidden Planet. Robbie the Robot FTW.

In other news, I read that Mr. Assange is planning to leak documents from a major US bank in the very near future.

I'm pretty sure Leslie Nielson is still our best bet in 2012.

"everything that's fashionable will eventually return to its natural unfashionable state." That is a good one. I might take to quoting you.

From the linked Arthur Silber post:

"A closely related aspect of our training to rely on authority and obey is that we are taught to value control. The idea of losing control is deeply unnerving to many of us . . ."

Authority is necessary, authoritarianism is neurotic overreliance on it. We learn to obey to be acceptable to our parents and become civilized human beings capable of living peaceably in society. We're taught to accept discipline that we might become well-functioning adults who have a healthy measure of self-discipline.

Sorry, but where Silber seems to see a society of regimented lemmings, I see one with no use for self-superior anarchists.

BTW, Leslie Nielsen was wickedly funny and a genius at the style of whack-job zaniness he portrayed. May he rest in peace.

Mr. Assange better haul butt to South America cause the Uncle ain't even begun to destroy him yet. You think pulling on Superman's cape or spitting in the wind is a bad idea.

susan, well hell, to even want the job of pretzeldent is evidence of a chemical imbalance in the brain.

Creepshow!

chef, I love me some Forbidden Planet, but The Naked Gun will always hold a special place in my heart. Sniff.

FB, as long as Cthulu is on the ticket. Someone's gotta be the hardliner.

LBR, and here you assumed I and my cheap sneakers were unfashionable.

SWA, the difference is that the state can kill you bloody with no repercussions if it deems you a threat, something quite different than parents and guardians teaching kids to grow up to *not* be assholes.

Know what's worse than self-superior anarchists? Self-superior state actors.

As for Mr. Nielsen, there's one thing we agree on. :)

BB, they slapped his ass on Interpol's Big Bad list, so Ecuador it is.
