There's something missing

Gonna take more than a mop to clean that up, bub.

We have a dog and a pony, now we just need, um, oh, what is that bloody thing called? I can't quite put my finger on it...

The U.S. Justice Department said on Wednesday it had launched a criminal investigation into the CIA's destruction of videotapes showing the harsh interrogation of terrorism suspects.

"There is a basis for initiating a criminal investigation of this matter, and I have taken steps to begin that investigation," said Attorney General Michael Mukasey.
...a show! I knew I'd eventually find it lying around here somewhere. You know, since I didn't have it destroyed.
"Our negotiations with the CIA and (Justice Department) over the scope of our investigation are ongoing. I fully expect their continued cooperation, including relevant testimony and documents," said Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman John Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat.
I'm glad that all parties involved are concerned only with the rule of law, with transparency, with being a shining example of democracy to where silliness like negotiations over the size and depth - no, not that, though sometimes it seems that all we're doing is bending over, our impassioned pleas for a dollop of lube drowned out by the incessant, diabolical laughter of a horror movie psychopath.

Good luck, Johnny. Hope you don't throw out your back.

You'll be bending over a long time.

And the dysfunction continues - lots of probing, but nothing ever, um, comes of it.

dcap, no, no, no! He's the bestestestest pretzel ever!

Colleen, I salute your vigor.

Candace, that sound you heard was my groan at your terrible, terrible joke. ;-)

I can only hope that an old college friend, now a long-time CIA analyst, was not involved. Otherwise, I'm gonna have to rethink some of our late-night conversations about Cuba and the revolution.

Salut,

Dude, and they have that guy running to clean up the evidence, but they're so dumb that they think that's where people are gonna look call me an optimist, but I have a good feeling about this one that there's gonna be a little bit o' trouble for some GOP's and that's just bad for business as usual, which is good for the American peoples. I don't know what the hell I'm talking about clearly, if I am the slightest bit optimistic, really ya' see. But, ya'll knew that.

I am confused. Does transparency mean hiding, lying, obfuscating, covering, and redirecting?

MIFG, I hope you haven't inadvertently revealed any sensitive information here. Or maybe you have, you subversive!

Optimist, you certainly are. I think some low-level flunky will get the discharge, but that's about it. Of course, I'm not remotely a glass half-full kind of dude, so take my comments with a heaping bowl of salt.

LBR, that's EXACTLY what it means. You should run for office!

Nothing will come of this investigation. This is just something to fill the headlines while Bush launches the next war.

That picture is perfect.

Dr. Zaius, wait. I'm confused. What exactly are you saying? That Evil will go unpunished? But the Good Guys always win, dammit!

catherine, I'd like to think that the web dude at Reuters subversively chose that exact one to sit next to the article. :)

This is one great photo. Your commentary is, sadly, true -- I've definitely seen a difference in the French's attitudes toward Americans since I came here in 1990...especially, and perhaps uniquely, since Bush and the start of the war.

Sigh...

Randal, I think mon ami and I were just discussing cigars. That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!

Well, good then. The Bush Administration will investigate itself and, as always, they'll find that everything is just hunky dory.

See, they're not corrupt.
