You're terminated.

A legendary figure in special effects. He'll be missed. And unlike a certain other famous person recently six feet under, he did not help enable a cabal of bloodthirsty neocon warmongers. Although Mr. Winston did direct Pumpkinhead. Oooh, spooky.

Now here's a reason to be sad....

I don't need any more reasons to be sad. I have seven and a half years worth of them.

Pumpkinhead? Was that the made for TV movie about the untold story of Chris Matthews?

I thought the Tweety cartoons were about Matthews? My bad..

That laugh of his..what nightmares are made of.

Another person of note kicked the bucket..Tony Schwartz , the creator of the "Daisy Ad".

Ahh, durn it, I really liked Stan. He did "Aliens" and that was so revolutionary at that time.

Whew...for a minute I thought it was my boss telling me I was fired for blogging at work!

whoever said it (and it wasn't hippocrates, apparently), i agree with it. and i think it should apply to all people in all careers:

first, do no harm.

a guy like this did only good in terms of his career, gave a lot of enjoyment to a lot of people young and old.

may he rest in peace.

spartacus, damn straight. I think I'll watch Aliens with a toast tonight. "Game over man, game over!"

POP, well, go watch T2 and pretend Ah-nold is blasting a bunch of neocons. You'll feel better.

LBR, no, Russert=Pumpkinhead, Matthews=Tweety. Though with the red hair, I'm not sure that holds water any more. Didn't Top Cat have red hair?

dusty, might need to bring that out of mothballs if it looks like McCain is going to win.

UC, you see that then you see CGI and it's really no contest. Great stuff.

okjimm, are you kidding? Blogging at work is American as apple pie and foreign intervention!

anita, amen. Do amens count if they originate with followers of Cthulhu?

yes, randal. indeed they do.

I'm too old and serious for all this falderal. Pumpkinhead is getting more press in death than any head of state I remember croaking. WTF? I know, I cried, but not for what a great "journalist" he was, but for the father/son thing. It got to my fatherless little hard cold heart.

RG-just because TR didn't slay all the neo-con dragons in the likeness of Pumpkinhead doesn't mean he was evil personified. I think he was honestly trying to do the best he could, making his way in a very corrupt industry. call me naive. but if you do, it won't make me happy. :-/

anita, music to my ears. If there was actual music playing right now.

utah, I can understand that. My whole problem with the thing frankly was seeing, not the talking heads prattling on endlessly - he was one of their own, I expected that - but that one week, he's vilified by opponents of Bushism, then he's a swell, okay fella. He wasn't evil, but I don't care how nice of a chum he was to everyone, he didn't exactly do his part to counter the last eight years. Then again, about 90% of the media jokers didn't.

JNNR, see my comment to utah. But if I call you naive, it won't make me happy either, so it's a wash.

lame attempt at mocking my happiness thread.... blah!

Well,

I don't know exactly how I made it in, but I did. Any man that doesn't help the Cabal is a great man. Being in this guys line of work there was probably much pressure place apon him for that.

Besides that I actually have a favorite placed special effects folder. There are some very, very cool things that are cheap to do.

i was sad about russert when i found out. then i just got pissed off at all this "lionizing" (if that is the right word) of him.

and to be brutally honest, i couldn't stand the fact that he constantly talked about "luke" -- i always was like, give me a break ... and then the guy is dead and all we hear about is luke!!! and THEN we find out that luke has a sports show on XM with who else, but JAMES CARVILLE !!!

i shouldn't be trashing the guy. he's only been dead like 10 minutes. and i'm sure his family is truly grieving. but yes. i do have a cold heart i guess, like hillary.

phew. finally got that out.

Anita..

A-fucking-men. You said it all for me. :>)

JNNR, lame? I worked long hours on that!

AHB, I'm glad it worked, but I have no clue about the tricks of blogger. It can be a temperamental bastard.

There's a future subject of a post for you!

anita and dusty, exactement. At least it wasn't as bad as the vomit-inducing hagiography parade we had to hear after Saint Ronnie kicked the bucket.

What okjimm said.

As for Russert, whatever his personal politics were aside, he had an amazing father/son/son/father thing going on. What staggered me, though, was his age. He was two years younger than me, and that scared the bejezus out of me.

Distributorcap said...

you mean there are OTHER things going on other than the saga of the Russerts
