The Good, the Bad and the Ugly XII

The season summed up.

The Good: surprisingly, the defense. Holding a red-hot Peyton Manning and gang to no touchdowns, 215 total yards (less than 100 on the ground!) and 4.3 yards/play, a colossally wonderful number for us, and nabbing three turnovers.

The Bad: unsurprisingly, the offense. Less than 200 yards gained in a skillfully applied masterclass in unimaginative conceptualization. Is Jerome Harrison still on the team? Is the passing offense that inept that throwing anything beyond five yards is akin to sticking your head in the gaping maw of a rabid lion while draped in raw meat?

The Ugly: hope everyone has fun watching Ken Dorsey the rest of the way. We're not the first team that failed to meet high preseason expectations, but the schizophrenic showing week-after-week, the fourth-quarter collapses (Baltimore and Denver) the injuries, the missed opportunities (Pittsburgh and Washington) the disappearance of Donte Stallworth before he even set foot in Berea, the failure to get help for extremely young cornerbacks, both of whom are talented, neither of whom are Deion Sanders; it'd be nice to have decent back-to-back campaigns, that's all. Thank the FSM for the Cavs, the 14-3 Cavs.

Up next: a loss at Tennessee.

You sound like a Bears fan. We're feeling the same way this morning.

Sad one for us New Englanders as well...here's where the mistakes that cost them the Colts and Jets games really hurt...

This was the fun weekend for me. My Cowboys won their turkey day game, so I could just sit back and watch the other games with no anxiety.

And hey, I didn't shoot myself in the leg, so that makes me smarter than at least one football player.

Do you want to know what bad and ugly is? Did you see the Beavers vs. the Ducks?? It is a sad day at Chez Weasel.

I watched football last night. A hell of a lot good it did me.

I didn't watch football and I guess I could care less about what I'm missing--a lot of heartache apparently!

Mehhh. I watched football on Turkey day and it was so dull I couldn't keep from falling asleep. Not like the days of Marve Fleming and Roy Jefferson. Who are these guys now pretending to be worthy of the jerseys they wear?

Utah just doesn't appreciate the subtle nuances of grown men wearing pads running into each other at speed. Football is a very cerebral game. Witness the true aficionados as they don team wear and headdresses so that they might for a moment climb into the mind of say a 360 pound lineman as he tries to out-thunk his opponent. Yes, football is a thinking man's game fer sher.

I made the mistake of watching your Browns before I watched my Pats. I took your bummer with me to the Pats game. Not a great day of football for either of us.

bubs, just think: Gus Frerotte is going to "lead" a team into the playoffs. Frightening.

bull, I wouldn't lose hope just yet given the remaining schedules of the Pats and the Ravens. Though, that's a paper-cliché. And hell, the Jets are as schizo as they come.

POP, Cowboys. Yay. Maybe these clubbers should start carrying tasers instead.

LBR, sixty-five? What the hell happened? They weren't wearing their Vince Ferragamos, I'd wager.

übermilf, you have something against unproductive anger?

liberality, you're much better off without it, trust us.

utah, oh jeez, you sound like the baseball clowns. "None of these guys could carry Ted Williams' jockstrap."

mrmacrum, I'm with you on the 'duh' factor of many of us fans, but as for the game itself, if you ignore the violent collisions, it contains a bit more strategery than the aforementioned baseball, wouldn't you say? An NL-double switch ain't all that complex.

Now where did I put my Dawg Bone...

OJL, but basketball season is here!
You just did comment. Sports wins again! Muahahahaha!

I still say damn the Browns for ruining what could be a perfect season for the Giants. Your team made us wait one more week to clinch a playoff spot. As for the 14-3 Cavs, I'll say this: I really King James remains in the fold there. As much I'd like to see him in the blue, orange and white of my beloved Knicks, I'm also a love it when modern athletes start and finish their careers with one team.

spartacus, I'm not sure I buy the CW that it's a "good loss" because the way they're playing, they COULD go 19-0, but since it's something they don't have to worry about at all, 18-1 is a distinct possibility. I figured they'd still be decent this year, but man, all positions are playing well, especially the woefully unsung o-line.

I'm with you on the staying with one team thing, but I bet he leaves, godfuckingdammitgrumblegrumble. Unless we win in 2010. Leave the world champs?

I actually watched your Brownies Sunday..the hapless Chargers were blacked out, which was probably a good thing judging by the outcome of that fucking game.

I have a baseball jones going on....a very serious case of it to be exact.
