No, not with that you perverts, but with this:
A new study by congressional Democrats says "hidden costs" have driven the price of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to about $1.5 trillion, The Washington Post reported on Tuesday. The party of chicken littles once more crying about the falling heavens. Waaaah. Let's look at this rationally, shall we? First, higher oil prices means that oil is a very valuable commodity, and that the freedom of America is worth fighting for against the Islamojihad Caliphate that single-handedly controls the price of crude in the marketplace. Secondly, like we'd ever waste valuable warbucks on treating, rehabilitating and/or retraining those
That figure is nearly double the $804 billion the White House has spent or requested, according to the report by the Democratic staff of Congress's Joint Economic Committee, which examines the hidden costs of the wars, the Post said.
According to the panel, the hidden costs include higher oil prices, the expense of treating wounded veterans and interest payments on money borrowed to pay for the wars, the newspaper said.
And to show that I'm not being completely clothed in partisanship, let us ask these impartial observers who remain, along with yours truly, skeptical of yet another instance of crying wolf:
The experts said it is difficult to calculate the precise impact of the Iraq war on global oil prices. They also said it was speculative to estimate how much the war will cost over time because situations change daily on the battlefield, the Post reported.Exactly. On Monday, Americans get blown up by IEDs, their bloody limbs, along with searing bits of white-hot metal, scattered far and wide throughout the oppressive sands; on Tuesday, Iraqis get slaughtered by helicopter machine gun fire, their bullet-riddled bodies to lie rotting in the overwhelming heat until found by a squadron on patrol; on Wednesday, Sunnis and/or Shiites get brutally assassinated by the other, stolen from their homes as their wives get raped and their children beaten, shot in cold blood, a warning to the rest of a village.
Yes, situations change daily on the battlefield. You remember Mad Libs, don't you? Just search the news to fill in the rest of the week!

Oh wow...here I thought I was going to get a three-way, and instead you hit me upside the head with more reality of Bush crimes.
This whole thing makes me sick, and to know that Bush spent his time on Veterans day to try and talk up another war, this time with Iran, with Merkel instead of honoring the Vets.
I just read a story in our paper today that a kid from a suburb near mine died in Baghdad by small arms fire. He was on this third tour of duty and was looking forward to coming home and doing three things, go to College, get an apartment and buy a motorcycle. His parents were informed of his death on Veterans Day morning when two soldiers came to his door.
I hate Bush like I've hated no other person in my life. I know being a Christian I shouldn't wish for the death of someone, but I can't help but daydream about Bush and Cheney both getting it in the head with one bullet. It should pass through Bush's head easily with no brain stopping it. I also wouldn't mind if Rummy was there to share the event.
Now I have to go to Confession...damn.
Sorry, I save the perversion for my adults-only blog. You must be 18 to proceed any further!
Third fucking tour? I remember when Webb brought up that bill for overseas/home time and it was a 3rd, 4th, 10th story on most TV news, which is still where most folks get their info.
If all these stories were told, along with pictures, every single night, I believe even the overly apathetic American people might begin to raise a ruckus.
And I couldn't agree more about the vile fuckery that is Bush and Co. It's hard to post on these fucks because all I want to do is say 'fuckyouasshole' for an entire page because that's all they fucking deserve. But I do disagree with the killing thing. Not on some moral ground, but because I'd want them to live for centuries. In unbearable pain for every single second. Death is far too kind for these fucks.
I often find myself inarticulate with rage when I think of all the lies that big eared, c-average, grotesquerie in the Oval Office fed us. To take something so tragic as 9/11 and use it as the impetus to satiate his own power lust is fucking criminal.
And yet, on some forums I frequent, there are still Bush apologists who STILL believe that Iraq needed to be liberated, that Al Quaeda was eating sushi and caviar off of hookers' stomachs with Saddam, and that anyone who questions the current administration is an unpatriotic, traitorous liberal weenie.
And still more 19 year olds die every day in a desert because King George had a hard-on for his dad's unfinished war.
I hear what you're screaming about the difficulty of blogging about these fucktards without it degenerating into a venomous rant and rave.
Though, as Van Morrison sang, "rave on, rave on".

I was going to say to dr.zombie, "you can say that again", but he already did. :-)
What's even more exasperating for me is when I read sites that claim to be "Independent" but are right wing as they come. They're basically "Lieberman Independents". They claim to look at both sides, but they tear down every single democrat and praise Bush for his bravery. They also go on and on with hatred for all muslims. But...they are sure they are "Independent" and don't follow any particular ideology. Idiots.
I had one guy that used to come to my blog who was one of them, then he left because he said that my blog was unfair and he didn't feel welcome. No one insulted him, he just was pissed because he couldn't get anyone to agree with him that going to Iraq or staying in Iraq was a good idea.
Dr. Zombie, I hear ya. I get that with certain family members. What is the threshold that must be passed before they finally decide to stop drinking the Kool-Aid?
At the risk of sounding extra maudlin, what those 19 year olds are going to miss, you know? Everything they'll never experience. Contrary to the wingnuts, we don't hate the military. It's a necessary evil. I'd love if humanity spent it's time on writing and film and music and left the combat to certain species of the animal kingdom. But what a complete waste, someone who more than likely wanted to serve his or her country, to wasted on, you're right, his dad's unfinished war.
Mary Ellen, like Instajackass and his 'libertarianism.' Right. None of us are black and white in our emotional and intellectual makeup, yet that's exactly what they want.
I haven't had the pleasure of a righty troll yet. Maybe it's good that I don't post about politics every day. I hate those fuckers for the exact reason you stated: they never want to engage in discussion, and they bring up the same tired 'evidence' or aspersions against viewpoints that aren't their own.
It's been getting more and more difficult for me to continue writing about politics. Bush vetoed another bill because he's concerned about "fiscal irresponsibility". This guy is such a hypocrite and I'm so fed up with him.
I probably just read the same news item you did. Thought about writing something, but one post a day on this fucker is about all I can muster. Oh, we can't afford $10 billion for x, y or z, but you best be giving me my fucking wars, $200 billion worth, please!
These fuckers really do want nothing more than to see things and people - especially people - blown to fucking smithereens. Fuckity fucking fuck. STOP BLOWING SHIT UP AND STEALING OIL. And hell, people like you have been blogging longer than I have, I used to just keep my rants offline. I have to start writing more about tunes or something.
i hate hate hate this man with every ounce one can....
and like ME -- i am so fed up and fed up with being angry.
$1.5 TRILLION on this war -- waste of lives, society, money
think of all the good that could have been done to fight the real fights -- cancer, homelessness, AIDS, poverty, caring for the young, infirmed, animals, education, food for the hungry, reclaiming land, alternative energy......
nope Bush's fucking dick is too small so he had to make it bigger.
It's lucky for the neocons that these costs are hidden. The one lesson our government learned from Vietnam was to keep the war out of sight, out of mind. We started losing the Vietnam war when too many millions of Americans were seeing the war on their TV sets. Now, with cooperation from the "media," all we get is celebrity gossip and airbrushed sugarcoated "news." It sucks.
Maybe we should have a "blogswarm" where people write nothing but MOTHER FUCKER across an entire page.
I can't even write about this fucking war, and I rarely write about Chimpy.
What's the point? Anyone who has half a fucking brain knows what's going on, and the rest...
Hell, I don't know what's wrong with them.
dcap, EXACTLY. What $1.5 trillion could've bought. Fuck, the wingnuts are always going on about vouchers for example. Fine. Stop waging wars, EVERYONE gets a voucher. School of your choice. College? You got it. No more taking 20+ years to pay off student loans.
Tom Harper, glad you're back among the land of the living and angry. And exactly - shit, where's my thesaurus? The wingnuts have been impressive in their own devious way, waiting to control more and more of the media, saturating the airwaves with garbage, getting someone like Clinton, who wasn't completely evil, to sign off on that fucking FCC bill. Panem et circenses. Just we don't see the circus we should be seeing.
Fairlane, that's an excellent idea. If nothing else, it'll help us feel better for about 30 seconds. And I hear ya. At this point, if you still dig the neocon way of things, well, nothing I or anyone else can say will convince you otherwise.
