The Last Stand of The Dial-Up Boys

"You need a connection this big, Randal. Eight inches, cut. Heh, heh."

When it takes 15 minutes to upload a post as inconsequential as this - I'm surprised I didn't get a plague of locusts among the disconnects and slowdowns - it's time for high-speed, don't you think? Well played, ISPs in cahoots with the neocon police state.

As always, I am amazed at your commitment to the Internets. I would not have the patience to blog without the high speed.

I can't blog without speed. And I like the DSL as well.

Come to the light, Randal....it's time for high speed.

Well, have you bought yourself a Christmas present yet?

I feel the need, the need for speed. Now excuse me all, off to practice my Val Kilmer manly strut.

I didn't know that there were still those lurking with the strut of dial up.

The need for speed will change your perspective.

I am a "last adopter" myself (I make both Steve Jobs and Bill Gates weep). A mere 9 weeks ago I finally switched from Windows 95 and AOL version -2.7. I think both Microsoft and AOL had a ghoul pool going on me.

Next up: getting rid of dial-up-- but by then, people will be blogging telepathically.

Let's Talk, oh it has. The speed at work is still faster, but it's nice to have something approximating it at home.

Grace, Win95 + AOL 2.7 + dial-up and you were still able to surf the tubes? I'm in awe at either your technowizardry, or your ability to hide the bodies of your sacrifices to our Dark Overlord, Bill Gates.

Is Bush describing the size of Jeff Gannon's cock???

200 sleepovers at the White House while Pickles was away at the family co-op in Manhattan or at the Crawford, TX pig farm really constitutes a long term relationship.

randal

sometimes even the cable modem is slow -- it is a trunk line so when a lot of people are using the internets (like on sunday nite) it can actually slow to a crawl)

Yep. Speed depends so much on what you're uploading/downloading. But...broadband is normally faster. In fact, I think my mom and dad are going to get a faster package for Xmas this year. Especially if we go out there for a visit... :)

christopher, you know as well as I do it's only a horrible thing if a Democrat does it.

dcap, really? Shit, that's what we just picked up. Oh well, I'll just have to surf for porn at some other hour.

spyderkl, for what we use it for, the non-uber-fast stuff should be fine. Only slowdown I noticed was youtube stuff, but they've been wonky recently anyway. Better than what we had. :)

Hey Randal, when the Cowboys win tomorrow, you have to (prominently) display the Dallas Cowboys' logo on your blog for a week (and vice versa for me in the unlikely event the Packers win.) You on?

I feel your pain, pal. Our only solution was to move or get satellite internet.

We should have fucking moved.

Dial-up sucks. I wasn't even able to watch videos. They kept stopping and pausing so often, it would take ten minutes to watch a 1-minute video. And after you're on broadband, you'll get even more impatient. If something takes 3 seconds to download, you'll be fuming "come on, Goddamnit, what's the fuckin' problem?!?!?!"

BTW, in that picture, Dumbya looks like he's standing in one of those Chi Kung poses.
