Will get fooled again!
In his second day on the job, Attorney General Michael Mukasey leaped into the political fray, telling a key Democratic senator he opposes his electronic surveillance plan and would recommend the president veto it if it is passed.
In a letter to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., on the eve of crucial committee votes to update the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), Mukasey was adamant in opposing Leahy's plan for changing the law.
Wow. Mukasey waited until his
second day on the job to flaunt his wingnut bonafides. I knew if we kept hammering at them that they'd start to buckle, that their resolve would start to crumble! Good job, Harry!
Mukasey and McConnell listed nearly a dozen other provisions or omissions in the Leahy plan which they said "would not provide the intelligence community with the tools it needs effectively to collect foreign intelligence information vital for the security of the nation."
Vital tools, national security, kill your children, food on your family, turrists, hate our freedom, blah diddy blah diddy blah. You can shut off the recording anytime, guys. The Democrats won't.

I hope Leahy takes that letter from Mukasey, tears it in half and shoves it up Feinstein's and Schumer's collective asses.
I hate our spineless Democrats.
Dammit, now I'm really pissed off.
Just mean Ghouliani wont have to look far for an Attorney General. Now where might he find a suitable Vice President...
Makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. Wait, that's the booze.
This pisses me off.
Fucking Democrats. I can't wait to hear/read their apologists.
Great, another stealth candidate. I knew they should have voted against him when he refused to say whether waterboarding is torture.
I guess once you get used to having a cocksucker around you can't live without one. Hell of a job bushie.
And Dems, WTF were you thinking?
"Stepnfetchit" Reid and "Nanny" Pelosi will continue to play the tunes the moronic monkey wants to hear.
They are bonafide wastes of space. I hope somebody makes a serious run against Nanny in the Primary.
Hi JR
Nanny will be challenged by Cindy Sheehan. I am not in Nanny's district so I don't know how it will go.
A lot of it really depends on the DCCC which the DLC has a firm grip on. Steny Hoyer and Rahm Emmanuel have a habit of burying progressive and liberal Democrats in favor of corporatists.
It will really take a grass roots movement to break that strangle hold but it needs to be done.
Pelosi and Reid have to go. They are almost as bad as having a Republican Speaker and Republican Senate Majority Leader...but not quite.
In some ways they may be worse because at least when their fucking us in the ass they give us a little reach around and use lube thereby lulling us into a sense of security that things really are getting better when they're not.
hi Randal,
as far as Mukasey is concerned, he's unfit to be a public defender in my opinion let along AG.
If you cannot say water boarding is torutre then you're just fucked in the head, period.
Wow, you're all such angry people. Why don't you put your money where your fingers are and send some cash for a very important fight for freedom and justice and apple pie and mom and baseball and fuzzy little bunnies.
I don't know what's wrong with most of the Democrats. Diane Feinstein appears to be morphing into a Republican. Only Chris Dodd seems to be standing up for the Constitution. And people wonder why the dollar is so weak - it reflects the state of the nation. I'm glad to have found your blog. Thanks for your comments on mine.
Was there really any doubt? The day after Bush nominated him, I researched his record and posted that he would goose-step behind his Fuhrer. Reid sold us out by making a deal with the GOP.
I, too, have grown weary of the non-stop baying at the moon about the cretins in poltiics. I'm in a kind of Zen mood about it now. I expect Senator Clinton to win and be a fair+/good- president. I don't live in the States anymore so it's not all that pertinent except that as they great Billy Bragg sang "the fate of the great United Statas/is entwined with the fate of us all..."
I will NOT miss an opportunity, however, to discuss HOCKEY. A Jackets fan are you? I think there's a lot to like about the team. Leclaire has been sick, no doubt, but expect some mean reversion, but what's the problem? With Leclaire and Norrenna you have two plus goalies. What a steal getting Norrenna for Denis!
I LOVE Hitch. He's imaginative and a very good teacher. Always figures out what players do well and puts them in positions to succeed instead of getting pissed off about players' shortcomings. A perfect example of his creativity is this. He likes a defensive style but without a lot of rough stuff because he wants breakaway potential. Seeing how limited his defense corps was, he got the genius idea of getting his forwards more into the defensive play of the game to the point of suiting up Federov as a defenseman from time to time. He can rol 4 lines and I like that he's using in Boll a bruiser who can actually play. if Hitccock is making one mistake it's giving Tollefson too big a role. He's hopeless.
Columbus could be sitting on a breakout year.
Paris Parfait, spine. That's the biggest problem it seems.
Tomcat, I hear ya. Just on principle they should never agree to even let one of these jackasses come to the floor.
Kelso's Nuts, plus Zherdev seems to be coming out of his funk and finding the net a bit. I'm with you on Hitchcock, monster upgrade from what they've had. Kind of comical that we're finally making a move, and Chicago and St. Louis are improving with the young guys as well. Bastards!
Or Bush to sneak in recess appointments.
