I think Bush's handlers are pushing this "peace talks" crap on us to steer the perception away from their previous "I'm a war president" spin. That isn't working, so they're doing a 180. That's probably all there is to it. What a waste.
Did you see the photo-op with Bush today? He did this weird thing when he was standing between Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. While posing for this joke of a handshake, he got right in their faces-I mean, almost nose to nose and cocked his head like a little puppy while trying to make small talk. It was the funniest thing I ever saw. Bush is such an idiot!

You missed the best part. Abbas is his 'shill' in the region. Meantime, the duly elected government is having even further encroachment on its territory : something even the UN has spoken up against.
