Let me stand next to your fire!

Kaboom.

Nothin' says fun like an even more destabilized Pakistan.
Can't wait to see how the media helps the Republicans spin this in their favor.

Bush will blame it on al Qaeda. You know...they hate freedom and all that. He'll give Musharraf a pat on the back and tell him, "heckuvajob".

I can't even imagine what is going to happen in Pakistan now. What a mess.

Poor, Benazir Bhutto. I feel so bad. I have nothing clever or funny to say. Sad :-(

With Pakistan in a state of upheaval, Osama Bin Laden will never be captured. That window of opportunity is now officially closed. Another testament to the legacy of the Bush Administration.

Yeah, I can't wait for the spin, either.

Bhutto was one brave lady - she of course knew this was likely to happen, but she went back anyway. True courage. Too bad they've lost someone of her caliber.

It's done. Giuliani is now the 'clear' candidate to help fight da terrrorists. Giuliani pledges to send more troops to Afghanistan and help Pakistan in any way possible.

Scarborough sees it as a net win for Giuliani whose campaign was on the ropes.

Time will tell if the scared little Republicans in Iowa agree with the media - that Giuliani is the only one capable of protecting us from the mean old nasty terrorists...that the United States created...and continues to fund to this day...with $10 Billion in aid flowing into Pakistan since Bush took office....

Giuliani is already capitalizing on Bhutto's death even though her body is still warm. Once a Ghoul always a Ghoul.

I have odds on Musharaff having Bhutto killed with help from the CIA.

It fits too well into the GWOT meme the U.S. finds itself in. Now we gots to invade another country somewhere (or re-invade Afghanistan) to feel safe again.

Darn NIE scratched Iran off the list (for now).

Iraq was a threat to us, but Pakistan and Saudi Arabia -- two of the most volatile twisted countries in the world -- are our allies. George Orwell couldn't have made this shit up.

Sad like la belette rouge, skeptical like polishifter about our own "non-involvement" in this. It wasn't looking as "sewed up" for Mushie as "we" like it.

What a friggin' mess we've made since we derailed Actual Democracy in Iran in '53.

It's their game, we're just funding it.

Devastating. Unnecessary. Disgusting.

I second what everyone said. And watching the local news - which is still where a lot of people get informed, I was disturbed by how this wasn't talked about more. It's very easy to picture a colossal array of dominoes, and a huge section just got knocked down by the single piece of Bhutto's assassination.

You totally pegged it, Randal. All the idiot pundits didn't even waste time expressing some semblance of humanity and sorrow and outrage at the tragedy--they were too busy spewing shit about who'd benefit the most from it. Assholes.

I can't even watch the news programs or the talking hairpiece roundtables on Sunday anymore. Too easy to get frustrated, you know?
