I know life's a bummer baby, but that's got precious little to do with me

Unfortunately the right has a bigger, bader, and more efficient propaganda machine than the left.
The talkings are already out there about how the proposed SCHIP bill Bush vetoed would have counted 25 year olds as kids, taxed tobacco to fund it, and would have covered families making $83,000 or less.
Now I don't care. I'm all for it. I see it as a step toward universal healthcare and a step toward taking the profit motive out of human life.
But the right has rallied and my guess is the left will collapse if these talking points start to widely circulate into the mainstream and are not countered.
Still it's a fact, Bush hates Children as do most Republicans. Hell, Bush hates human beings.

Exactly, but the Dems are so afraid of the "socialist" boogeyman, that they'll never push for this. Does a family here in Ohio - as opposed to your California - making $83,000 need SCHIP? The odds are probably not. But so what? We have no qualms about not challenging these fucks on the $450+ billion on Iraq, the bullshit Star Wars crap in the 80s, garbage programs like the Osprey, unneeded ones like the B-2, etc etc.
But when a corporation is threatened with bankruptcy, or a local sports team needs a new stadium, just roll the caravan of Brinks trucks up to the CEO's front door. It's not socialized anything, then.
The Democrats have a goldmine here. They've got to stop snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. If they keep cowering and groveling every time a wingnut says "socialized medicine" or "government handouts" or "class warfare" or any of their other standard soundbites, they're gonna lose again. And that means we all lose.
Exactly, and what Obama did for the flag pin thing - admittedly easier to deal with than "charges" of socialism - was excellent. He called bullshit on it and said actions speak louder than empty words or gestures. Why the hell they're not HAMMERING Bush and the Evil Minions on the SCHIP thing is beyond me. I'm so sick of these falsely terse press releases. Say they hate kids, that they want them sick. Hell, even Mudcat Saunders of all people said that if you're a racist, go ahead and vote Republican. THAT'S what we should be saying. "They misled us." No. They LIED. Fucking euphemistic language.
