Who watches the watchers?

"No, no, hear me out, Vlad. You'll love this idea."

The director of the Central Intelligence Agency, Gen. Michael V. Hayden, has ordered an unusual internal inquiry into the work of the agency's inspector general, whose aggressive investigations of the C.I.A.'s detention and interrogation programs and other matters have created resentment among agency operatives.
I hate - no, I seethe with rage - when people do their taxpayer-funded jobs, but thankfully I'm not alone on this.
"These are good people who thought they were doing the right thing," said one former agency official. "And now they're getting beat up pretty bad and they have to go out an hire a lawyer."
I hear ya, man. I know it's frustrating to go through each day not being able to use the skills of cooperation and social interaction we've been learning since childhood. Like that time when my kindergarten teacher taught us how to press someone's nostrils closed while we held their head underwater in the bathroom sink to get them to let us play with the new box of Legos for a bit, or that time in high school when Jimmy cut ahead of me in line during lunch and the principal demonstrated that the proper technique to teach him a lesson was to apply a very high voltage to his scrotum. Jimmy never cut ahead of me again.

These are good people fighting the good fight, violating every notion of international law and decorum, destroying the very ideas of freedom and liberty so you can keep yours. Within reason, of course.

Ah! That little Jimmy cut'n in line again! Nothing a bit of head slapping wouldn't handle...

Hey, the people - you know, other nations not named the United States - need to behave themselves, and if they don't, well, you know.

Hey, what's all this leftwing sniveling about a "constitution" or something? The CIA is protecting America's freedom against comminists and swarthy muslims. Us freedom-loving Americans are paying tax money for waterboarding and scrotum-shocking, and we want our money's worth :)

And the CIA keeps such good company too...why don't those damn librils jus trust'em?

I mean, Noreiga, Pinochet, Bin Laden, and Saddam... and those are just the big names everyone has heard of.

Any thug operating in a third world country that has a few squads of goons likely has some ties to the CIA.

That's just the way we operate?

What's the beef? What's more American than shady dealing, arms for hostages, air america, selling arms to terrorists, funding terror organizations, violating basic human rights, torture, corruption, espionage, treason....

Aren't those all in the Constitution somewhere as how a Good American should behave?

I mean, they wouldn't do it if it weren't in the Constitution...

And by air america I mean the company, that is the CIA, selling heroin and using the profits to fund their operations in Laos.

It's no wonder why Afhganistan's poppy crops have been the largest ever since we invaded.

I bet there are daily shipments out of Afhganistan with proceeds making their way to the CIA for their off book operations.

Oh come on, America would never profit off the misery of others, would never deal with unsavory characters when it's beneficial, only to drop them like a hot potato when it's not. That only happens in liberal Hollywood. Osama has always been our enemy. Saddam was always our enemy. And we had nothing to do with installing the Shah. And Pinochet? Isn't that a cocktail?
