I know life's a bummer baby, but that's got precious little to do with me
I really want to believein sporting teams from Cleve'but a punch in the gutsand a kick in the nuts -hang on, for now I must heave.
[Sniffle] That's so ... touching.
Man...I really didn't want to see Boston take this one. I feel bad for my daughter who just moved to New Hampshire a few months ago. She said she can't stand the Boston fans in that area. She purposely wears her White Sox hat just to piss them off. There will be no living with those Mass asses now. :-(
Candace, very few things can bring out the depths of inspiration and feeling like a soul-crushing loss in a sporting event that has no discernable affect on the grand questions of the day. mary ellen, I hear ya. The Sawks Nation can be quite insufferable. It really has to be some east coast elitist thing like the wingnuts say. When the 49ers were destroying everyone in the 80s, the few fans I encountered weren't asses about it. Hell, even Steeler fans are less wankery about things. Stupid Puritans!
The east coast elitism encompasses more than their sports teams. My daughter said they're downright freaky when it comes to "outsiders" there. She's a reporter and every time she interviewed someone when she first got there, they asked her very suspiciously where she was from. To make it worse, she not only has the Chicago accent, but after living in Missouri for five years, she picked up a little of the southern thing...I just hope she doesn't pick up that Boston Paahk the caaah lingo.
I don't do baseball but I do find football wonderful. Especially yesterday when the Cowboys beat the Viking. My Boys have the second best record in the NFL right now. But that loss last week to the Patriots, even though expected, still hurt a lot.
Suddenly I'm a Rockies Fan....
mary ellen, that's comical in a loony way. "Youz an outsidaaa!" Parlez-vous anglais? Glass houses and all. Sheesh. And I can't imagine a Chicagoan sounds that much different than someone from Cleveland or Detroit or Milwaukee or Pittsburgh. But I don't know anyone from Chicago, so my theory goes untested!Patricia, I forgot to mention that Cowboys fans are one of the groups that can be insufferable. :)Poli, you and me both, man.
I'm with Polishifter.
We may not be able to win a championship in any sport, but Cleveland's a Plum! (Yeah, I remember. I'm dating myself now.)
